Strengths:No need to transfer it attaches to your chair, you can take it off if you need to go into a store. Stores easily in a small space. Can be attached and taken off independently depending on your strength.. My model has 24 gears and a two speed hub the later ones only had 7 gears
Weaknesses:small front wheel, not much weight on front wheel so it spins out sometimes, no longer being made
Comments:This was my first introduction to handcycling almost 20 years ago and I still use it today even though I have two other handcycles but find that I use the attachment more because I do not have to transfer when I use the attachment.. Not sure why I left a review since they do not make them anymore.

Jessie from Elma, WA ,USA submitted this review on June 15th 2009 at 04:13 PM. Jessie is an end user who has six months to a year of experience with the product.
Strengths:Ability to detach from wheelchair when not using, compact, good design
Weaknesses:Heavy, somewhat hard to fit on ultra lightweight wheelchairs, sometimes weight pushes your existing wheelchair caster's down and makes it hard to pedal handcycle.
Comments:I bought one of these used on a disability webiste and love it. One big thing that I like is that you can attach and detach it from your existing wheelchair. This is a big plus if you don't have room to store a standard handcycle, like in a small apartment. Its compact enough to fit in a closet. The Cyclone is pretty heavy and somewhat hard to maneuver around turns. Once you get used to this, however, its a great device for someone who wants to have the feeling of riding a bicycle again and is looking for some good upper body exercise.

George from Milton-Freewater, OR. USA submitted this review on November 9th 2008 at 01:22 PM. George is an end user who has over five years of experience with the product.
Strengths:Easy to attach and remove from everyday wheelchair.
48 gear system. (24 gear plus 2 speed hub)
Neutral in hub for easy backing up.
Weaknesses:Frequent maintenance. May be a common need but I was not familiar with maintaining derailer and other pieces.
Too small of tire. Should have been 24" or 26 ".
Comments:I enjoyed using this very much. Back and forth to work. Going to the grocery or other store. Great for just getting around the area and getting excercise at the same time. Usually did about 40 - 50 miles per week during good weather.

I would like to have another like this. After 15 years, and I don't know how many miles, it has finally gotten to a point of needing repairs and new part frequently.

D from San Luis Obispo, CA. submitted this review on October 28th 2008 at 02:49 PM. D is an end user who has over a year of experience with the product.
Strengths:You can remove it from your chair when you arrive at your destination.
Weaknesses:The concept of having a removable front drive is genius. The only weakness is that it is poorly marketed, and probably even mis-understood by it's makers.
Comments:This product has changed my life. I regularly use it about thirty miles a week and sometimes more. I can use it from my house to downtown, then put it in a bike rack. Then I ride it home. My favorite roll is a ten mile round trip. I stop along the way, remove the cyclone, and shop or hang out with tourists, then Im on my way again. Only the Cyclone can do this. This lifestyle is only possible with the Cyclone.

Of course the components are a bit sketchy, but the concept in actual use is revolutionary. Everybody wants you to buy their trikes, but if they cant be incorporated into everyday life, then they are a whole different concept and approach to cycling that doesnt really interest me.

I dont want to be stuck in a trike somewhere, when I want to go into a restaurant or a store. Thats lame. Thats why I dont roll like that.

Anybody that can use this, should use this; The upper body conditioning and work out is excellent. If you want to get your heart rate way up, this will do it. Its an awsome work out. However it's geared to be easy and slow too.

Mine broke, but I know I have to replace it. I have no other choice.

I highly recommend this product to any person that can use it. Im buying it again.
