Kay from England, UK submitted this review on February 15th 2008 at 04:10 AM. Kay is an end user who has over a year of experience with the product.
Strengths:This chair doesn't look as 'hospital like' as many of the chairs available, to active users on the NHS.
Parts easy to clean, back rest easy to fold.
Strong upholstery
Weaknesses:The chair I was given didn't have adjustable back or push handles, so although the back was at a good height, It was impossible to change it if I had wanted or needed to. The push handles stuck out like a 'stroller' handle way above the back rest and generally got in the way. CoG adjustments difficult to orchestrate.
Screws holding side guards came loose very easily. Wheel locks/brakes came loose perpetually and spring action broke in first week. Castor housing pins lost first week.
Comments:Disappointing, although the chair I had looked pretty high end and functional, it was far from it.
Although its a shame that Sunrise medical have axed Lomax, if this chair is anything to go by, its no wonder.
Functional only to a point, way heavier than documented, difficult to adjust.

Gillian from England submitted this review on July 13th 2005 at 07:47 AM. Gillian is an end user who has less than a month of experience with the product.
Strengths:None, provided on the NHS
Weaknesses:too clumpy, no support in backrest and seat too long, arms covered in foam fabric not practical, seating posistion/height means unable to place feet on floor whilst sitting at table/computer etc wheelchair unstable for transfers, not able to wash seat fabrics etc..
Comments:NHS provided this wheelchair, previously had an Etac purchased privatly which enabled me...this lomax has disabled me...

kevin from scotland submitted this review on February 12th 2005 at 12:16 PM. kevin is an end user who has less than a month of experience with the product.
Strengths:with the cushion on this is a very comfortable wheelchair when stationary.
Weaknesses:the makers claim that this is an active wheelchair, i disagree mainly due to the major disign flaw, that means due to its high and far to the back centre of gravity the wheelchair is incapable of going up any but the smallest inclines (1 in 10).
Even on flat ground all but the smallest movements tend to make the wheelchair tip back slightly, this also means that traversing kerbs is impossible going up and very dangerous going down when wheeliing back to use a kerb.
Comments:i am an idependant user and this wheelchair althogh an active model, should not be taken outside without an attendant, which i dont have and have never needed.
