Strengths:After riding this for almost 2 years, I want to ammend my previous review. I do love this bike and use it to commute. Turning radius is tight, smooth ride,it is pretty speedy, comfortable and gives me a great workout.
Weaknesses:Since it is a recumbant, I have discovered the dangers of riding in city streets: drivers usually have a hard time seeing me, and I them from intersections.
This could be even more speedy if I can change the top sprocket for a larger one.
Comments:I am considering making adjustments to this bike: taller seat position and crank would allow me to sit high enough to see and be seen.
Kids see me and love the "coolness" factor and want to try it. Missoula is a great town for strange bikes and stranger bicyclists. We fit right in.

Jace from Missoula, MT USA submitted this review on April 14th 2006 at 12:43 PM. Jace is an end user who has one to six months of experience with the product.
Strengths:It is lightweight, sturdy and cool looking. It allows one to bike using only 2 wheels as opposed to a trike. It is pretty speedy with 14 speeds. Newer models have 21 speeds. Turning radius with outriggers up in their highest position is tight and quick. It allows me to continue biking because the effects of Post-Poli Syndrome limit the strength in my legs to use a standard foot powered bicycle. Components are high quality and work well.
Weaknesses:It is difficult to master. Steering is very hard to control at first and after much practice and miles of riding, it is still easy to go wrong. This can lead to safety issues when riding in traffic or on crowded campus sidewalks(where I work). Stopping isn't intuitive, yet not much else is intuitive. The small outrigger wheels get bogged down in anything but hard riding surfaces.
Comments:I love this bike. It is excellent for workouts and just plain fun. It gives a great arm and upper body workout. However, I'm not confident it will be safe enough, because of the steering issues, for me to use to commute to work. I purchased a used older model and it is not up to the specs of the latest version available. I did test a newer model and it has the same issues. I will give it more time and miles and practice. I would recommend this to someone with patience, arm strength and good balance. Some ability to use one's legs for balance would be an asset.
