Andrew from Oceanside, Ca. 92057 submitted this review on February 17th 2005 at 02:39 AM. Andrew is an end user who has one to six months of experience with the product.
Strengths:I ride the Freedomryder LC-1. She is smooth, fast, nimble, and well constructed. The LC-1 is a flat out racer. Easy to ride.
Great for upper body work outs.
Weaknesses:Not too city friendly. Does not turn sharply and can not carry much cargo. Their handcylces are NOT built for off road use so don't use it off road. Stands to reason!
Comments:Buyers must carefully read, study and understand all the different companies that build handcylces. They must not just close their eyes and hopfully get want they want. If they are unhappy with the product who's fault is that? I have kept in touch with Brike International with e-mails and phone calls. They enjoy and invite feed back from their customers. Freedomryder are always willing to let the customers demo their handcycles. When you look closely at the bike you will know how well the bikes are constructed.

Tim from Scotland submitted this review on August 10th 2004 at 08:54 AM. Tim is an end user who has over a year of experience with the product.
Strengths:Reasonably robust, fast, light, high spec/high tech piece of kit.
Weaknesses:Poor support from FreedomRyder, road machine only, not built for anything tough. Lack of seat adjustment.
Comments:When I bought this I wasn't aware of how many handcycles manufacturers are out there. Thought this looked good, but didn't get a chance to try, just had to order and hope. Cycle arrive in parts and had to be assembled, not too difficult, but a torque wrench is essential. I have had this cycle for over two years, I ride it on and off road (dirt tracks). It doesn't like off road. The 650c wheel size seriously restricts tyre options, its very difficult to find a tyre with any tread (there is a triathlon tyre available with a light tread). Freedomryder aren't allways the best at aftersales. As I don't live in US email is the main form of communication and they do not always reply. The cycle was made to order, but there times when it would be good to be able to raise the seat back. Also, when presented on the web this cycle had blade wheels, when it arrived it had more normal spoked wheels, when I checked back at the site they add amended the page to indicate blade wheels at extra cost, but I had every reason to expect blade wheels. However, the cycle is well made and very fast on level roads.

gerry from davis ca usa submitted this review on June 11th 2003 at 01:31 AM. gerry is an end user who has over a year of experience with the product.
Strengths:Well constructed, very solid ride, stable at high speeds and turns. Great fun
Weaknesses:maintenance. It must be dissasembled and lubricated every 500 miles. seating position is not adjustable. seat has to be replaced to provide skin safety.
Comments:I recommend the composite rims. I also modified seating to be more upright.
