|Strengths:||Allows a person with hemiplegia to propel themselves and steer.|
Allows a person with amputated leg to propel themselves and steer.
|Weaknesses:||Probably effective only indoors over carpet of correct type.|
Probably will not work outdoors, uphill, or over deep carpets.
|Comments:||My wife has multiple sclerosis, but it affects only her right side. She has had MS for 26 years. Her hand-eye coordination is affected so she cannot operate a power wheel chair. She has a very strong desire to propel herself. If she uses the handwheel of a wheelchair, she cannot steer. She is in rehab after surgery.|
I have observed another patient using this product and I want to look into it for my wife.
I am a retired professor of engineering and these obserations are based on limited observation, but I believe correct.
