Strengths:great maneuverability in tight spots, comfortable, big wheels for outdoor use. good range on standard nf22, (55 AH), batteries. Stable. Good design, only 4 wheels touch the ground = less rubber to wear out.
Weaknesses:motors and gearboxes can fail if abused by prolonged periods of riding up steep long grades in hot climates. The 2 pole motors are sealed and designed for intermittant use. Also the main nylon drive gear can get soft in heat and strip out. Goes through tires with every day use on asphalt pavement. Never ever run the batteries down to the red. As with all sealed gel lead acid batteries, it will kill them. Rear casters get loose with time and wabble. Must retighten bolts to fix.
Comments:I rode and abused my Pride Jet 2HD for 6 years until my mobility provider said that I qualify for a new chair. I had little down time due to a great service provider replaceing motors and tires. I liked my Jet 2 hd so much I almost said no. I am hard on chairs. In the beginning, I rode the Jet 2 hd up long steep hills in 100 degree weather so much that I burned out 2 motors and one gear box. After that, I got smart and quit abusing my chair. The new replacement motors went 3 years and are still going for the neighbor I sold it to. Now I have a Pride Jazzy Select 14. (same chair but repackaged with new controller and big aluminum wheels). For abuse, I ride a Big Golden Technologies Avenger 4 wheeler that can take it with it's powerful 4 pole motor. I'm nice to my Jazzy Select 14, after my lesson with standard sealed 2 pole motors.

Strengths:none
Weaknesses:motors burn out quickly I have a jet 2 hd, which I have had 3 years the chair has been a nightmare since they left it. I have went through 3 sets of motors and gear packs waiting on the fourth set as we speak. and four sets of batteries.

I would never accept another pride product , it is really a merrit with a disguise steer clear of the entire pride line..
Comments:it really sucks and an old lady could outrun it.

Carol from Sacramento, CA USA submitted this review on January 23rd 2005 at 11:51 AM. Carol is an end user who has over a year of experience with the product.
Strengths:none
Weaknesses:Bolts that extend from all 6 wheel hubs have scored every door in house. I have had the chair for 3 years and now have to recharge it every night. My use has been indoors only. Now I have a loud "clunking" and "popping" noise that comes from inside the transmission as it rides along. Repair shop says that Jet models are made in China and no one repairs them in the USA.
Comments:I would not recommend this Jet and would be suspicious of any other Jet series chair. I have another Jazzy chair at my office and it is a higher end model that works a lot better.
